Being a tech entrepreneur in the AI age with John Lyotier of TravelAI

Podcast: Being a tech entrepreneur in the AI age with John Lyotier of TravelAI

The travel industry always seems to be on the front lines of technological disruption—and for good reason! With so many stakeholders involved in getting travelers from A to B, there’s potential for inefficiencies to emerge at myriad steps along the journey from booking to landing. But in this new “age of AI,” the opportunity to streamline processes and transform the sector has never been stronger.   To unpack this moment for travel entrepreneurs, we welcome TravelAI Co-Founder and CEO John Lyotier onto the show. TravelAI is an applied AI company that connects high-intent travelers to the largest travel websites in the world and over 10 million properties through a network of interconnected brands. The company was an early spin-out of Canadian-based Left Technologies (which John also co-founded) and built upon years of experience in online marketplaces and e-commerce.  By partnering with the world’s largest travel retailers, TravelAI matches millions of travelers with their dream destinations each year, facilitating more than $1.5B in gross booking value and 6M nights booked since 2016 But as we alluded to earlier, this is hardly John’s first go-round as a Founder and entrepreneur. Today and in his past roles, John strives to lead by example, making even the most difficult business decisions based upon what is ‘right’ for all stakeholders, while advocating for responsible growth and championing Sustainable Commerce. It’s a fantastic mission, and we pick John’s brain on his journey into the startup space, experience as a leading entrepreneur, and what’s on deck for the rest of 2024. Data remains the “new oil” in the age of AI https://youtube.com/shorts/fvp7SjUgoL0 By leveraging AI to help identify high-intent travelers, John Lyotier and his team at TravelAI are able to match these users with content that delivers true value.  While the old adage "data is the new oil" was born before artificial intelligence started showing up in every corner of our day-to-day lives, it's never been truer, as data helps fuel the powerful innovation being spun out by John's team.  https://youtube.com/shorts/CEUihPyEnoY John and the team at TravelAI are leveraging artificial intelligence to better understand consumer intent and create more meaningful connections between the travelers and businesses he works with.   Thanks to AI, John's team can accelerate these learning processes and better cultivate meaningful, well-curated content streams.  https://youtube.com/shorts/3crycZjbMmA?feature=share Artificial intelligence allows teams to innovate and create things faster than ever before. It's also given companies like TravelAI the agility and speed they need to scale and achieve growth while bringing more powerful solutions to market.  Stream the full interview with John on Boast's YouTube Channel here. Marching To 100 Million Steps with Trexo Robotics

Podcast: Marching To 100 Million Steps with Trexo Robotics

Many of the most passionate (and successful) founders start their entrepreneurship journey as a quest to solve an acute, personal problem. This was exactly what drove the team at Trexo Robotics. On this episode of What The Tech, we welcome Manmeet Maggu, Founder and CEO at Trexo, whose team is re-imagining pediatric rehabilitation, while also redefining mobility solutions for all people.  Manmeet started the company when he found out that his nephew had Cerebral Palsy and was unable to walk. Instead of waiting for the future to happen, Manmeet and his team decided to build the future he wanted to see and made the first-ever exoskeleton that helps children walk at home every day, in many cases for the first time in their lives. Trexos are now being used by top hospitals and customers all over North America, and their users are on track to walk 100 million steps using Trexo’s technology in just a few weeks. At Trexo, they’re out to create devices that are designed with the user in mind, building wearable robotic devices that can be used at home to help children with disabilities experience walking. It’s a mission that’s steeped in really cool R&D and innovation—and they’re just getting started! On this episode, we pick Manmeet’s brain on the incredible innovation his team is driving, his team's goals for the future, and what it takes to drive innovation in 2024.  A global network of support to tackle mobility challenges https://youtube.com/shorts/fTh8c2HziaY Considering how bad immobility can be for adults, the implications for children is even greater. By partnering with a co-founder that shares Manmeet's passion and complements his expertise, he was able to help design technology that tackles childhood mobility issues.  Their solution is rooted in unique research and development and backed by the MaRS Discovery District  as part ot the Toyota Mobility Unlimited Hub.  https://youtube.com/shorts/GmOk2TGJ7u8 While Manmeet's mission comes from a personal place, his solution to childhood mobility issues that leverages tech and support of the larger startup community will have global implications.  Check out the full interview with Trexo on Boast’s YouTube channel here.
